John Forrest National Park.

One of Australia’s oldest conservation areas and Western Australia’s first national park, proclaimed in November 1900.

The visitor area contains barbecue and picnic facilities. The park is home to two waterfalls flowing in winter and spring, accompanied by picturesque walk trails.

Mundaring Weir.

An idyllic place for a scenic drive, a picnic with friends or an immersive bush walk.

Completed in 1903, the Weir was the start of the water pipeline that pumped water to Kalgoorlie goldfields; some 700 km away. At the foot of the Weir is the number 1 pump Station Museum where you can learn about the brilliant engineer behind the project.

Lake Leschenaultia.

Set on 168 hectares of bushland, this lake is well known for its canoeing, swimming, cycling and barbecue facilities.

Originally known as Chidlows Well, the lake was built in 1897 as a dam by the Western Australian Government Railway to replenish the steam engines travelling to Northam, York and beyond.

Bickley Valley Wine Trail.

Visitors can enjoy a drive through the vistas of vineyards and orchards, sip on award winning wines and discover boutique cellar doors owned and operated by progressive winemakers. With over 15 wineries scattered along the Bickley Valley Wine Trail there is something for everyone.

The region specialises in Methode Champenoise, Chardonnay, Cabernet Savignon and Merlot.

Mundaring, the heart of the hills, has been a wine producing area since the 1880’s, when the first vineyards were planted in Darlington.
